This year, we once again held the event “Farsang Heritage Day at the Bánffy Castle in Bonțida” on February 16, 2026. On this occasion, fourth-grade students from the Báthory István Theoretical High School in Cluj-Napoca visited us.
The program began with a presentation by art historian Zsuzsanna Eke, who introduced the history of the castle in a child-friendly language while maintaining professional accuracy. Afterwards, the students could explore the castle’s past more deeply through our interactive exhibitions: “Miklós Bánffy’s Force Fields,” “Lost&Found. Lapidarium,” and the “Experience Room.”
Following a shared snack, attention turned to folk traditions. Zsuzsa Cserey-Both’s interactive lecture, “Farsang-End Traditions,” brought the customs of the carnival season to life, accompanied by lots of laughter.
The day concluded with a treasure hunt game, where children explored the castle grounds and buildings in a playful way.
The event was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Hungarikum Committee.
