We held Heritage Days for children at the Bánffy Castle in Bonchida on October 9 and 10, 2024, where participants enriched their experiences with many adventures within the castle’s ancient walls. We welcomed 30 preparatory class students from Györgyfalva Primary School and 26 third-grade students from Válaszút Primary School.
The students learned about the castle’s past and present and gained insight into the everyday life of the Bánffy family. The program started with an interactive guided tour, followed by a treasure hunt where the children explored the hidden values and treasures within the buildings. After a snack, a Renaissance dance workshop took place, where they learned some dance steps, bringing sound and life into the partially restored main building with their movements and claps. The event concluded with drawing, coloring, and group games in the courtyard.
The program provided an opportunity for the children to understand what life was like in a castle long ago, helping them connect with the concepts of preserving and utilizing built heritage through playful tools.
We thank everyone for joining us, and thanks to them, we also had a wonderful day!
The project was supported by the Cluj County Council.
